Your senses are awakened as soon as you enter Cambridge-Ellis. As you walk down the hall, you are welcomed by the smell of cooking projects. You hear the shared laughter of children and teachers, reflecting our comfortable classroom connections. You see the colorful child art adorning the walls. You touch the many textured classroom materials, from sand to shaving cream. As you join us at Assembly on Fridays, you help celebrate the community we are creating together.
The atmosphere at Cambridge-Ellis is friendly and open. Children are encouraged to move freely through activity centers and make choices within defined limits. An underlying structure exists within this informal yet secure setting. Children have daily schedules that include free choice, group meetings, and organized activities. Teachers meet daily to discuss the individual needs and progress of the children, and to plan curriculum.
Teachers begin building relationships with children and their families at a home visit before the school year begins. At that time each child will receive a swatch of his or her individual fabric pattern that will cover the child's school pillow and also identify artwork, snack baskets, and personal storage spaces throughout the school year.
Your child's experience at Cambridge-Ellis is archived in a unique End-of-Year Book created by the teachers and filled with photographs, drawings, and projects from the year.
